Hi and Welcome to our Innovators Essay page.  This is a mini-quickly written brief essay that is designed to address innovators, and important aspects related to innovation development.

Following, is a list of some important innovators today and throughout history.

My gift to you concludes with an interesting -personality psychologically oriented mini biography based on Walt Disney life.

As we already stated, innovators are creators they focus on what can be-now what is. They are defined as dreamers and are often criticized because they don’t always follow the crowd, or follow all the rules. They do their own thing by creating and finding their own path. Some succeed with happiness others fail and fight to the end. Innovators are usually good - hearted people who truly care about the welfare of others.

It’s a shame, however that history proves that many people are usually skeptical and narrow-minded when they meet an innovator. Often some people choose to despise them, and try to prevent them from achieving, rather then understanding, encouraging, appreciating, and helping them. As a result the innovative potential of the world has never occurred.

A quick example in history -Lucilio Vanini in 1619 was burned at the stake for proposing that humans evolved from apes.  If innovators are ridiculed, and if scientists are repressed will the true potential of their work ever  become realized?

Innovators love the tradition path but always believe in finding better ways to enjoy things, create things and improve everything that currently exists. The greatest thing about innovators is everyone in the world is one, it’s just we all have to find a purpose or something to do –that is uniquely important for us to pursue.  When we do, no matter what it is-we are being innovative.

In summary, Innovators take risks. These people are venturesome and are characterized by fearless and optimistic cognitions (thoughts/attitudes). Innovators have high ranks when it comes to emotional intelligence since they are able to cope with failure time and time again and still get back up and try again. It’s important to remember, that some of the most successful people in the world failed numerous times before they eventually achieved some success.

Please erase the word Failure from your mind. You were not born to be a failure, or to feel that you failed, you are a miracle of life –that alone make you a winner. Failure cannot and does not exist. Yes, it is a feeling but in reality when others are allowed to play dice with your personal destiny, these other people are the ones that cause you to view or think of yourself as a failure; especially if they don’t take the time to teach you, show you, coach you, or find people to help you discover ways for you to learn and succeed. The feeling of failure serves no positive purpose in your life. So get rid of it –if you have any such feeling; everything in life is a learning experience –we all develop at a different time, space, and sequence in life- and everyday is an opportunity to live, grow, learn and develop.

Many children, teenagers, young adults, and adults, still believe and feel that he or she is a failure. This feeling usually results, if an individual does not find kind and helpful people to teach and coach you or your children with the necessary skills needed to feel competent within oneself. When people develop ego strength, a sense of belief develops from within -allowing an individual to have the energy, passion and determination to feel a sense of triumph that motivates the energy needed to accomplish dreams, and goals successfully.  Sure environmental factors –can inhibit performance-however thoughtful, helpful  and kind people can contribute to the development of a boundless feeling of success that radiates in people.( Based on Research finding in the brain-relating to emotional -memory state dependent /behavior research finding.)

Anyone who says or calls you a failure is a judger and usually lacks researched based educational awareness.  If they were aware of the negative impact calling someone a failure is -they would never say such things. In addition, if we put down our children, teenagers, or young adults-one will never know how much damage- this does to one's psychological development.  Research,  in neuroscience indicates that emotional memories influence future behavior, motivation, and success in life.  AS A RESULT - It is crucial to believe in and to socially support all people.

Please, remember that failure is a mistaken notion in ones thinking. Everything in life is a learning experience with nothing too lose, but everything in the world to gain. Yes, we don’t always succeed, or get what we want but as ancient sages once said-we must learn to detach ourselves from the objects of our desire, and not depend on externalized things or people to bring us happiness.

Happiness, comes form within as Buddha discovered eons ago. Yes, conditions and circumstances can make us happier, and social support can increase our levels of happiness in addition tohealth; but true inner peace and happiness according to numerous studies starts from within. After all, there is no limit to happiness, only sadness because it stops us. Each citizen in the world can make us a bit happier every day with just a smile, and studies have proven this. Just remember, what is more important the attitude you bring to life or the attitude life brings to you?

In conclusion, without quality mental and physical health –life is not enjoyable, creativity is stifled, and the innovative potential of the one body called - humanity will not be optimized. Luckily, we are social being, and each citizen can dramatically contribute to the health and wellbeing of each other in amazing boundless ways-trust me-check out some Health Psychology research.  When we care for everyone the innovative potential of the world will increase, the economical potential/expansion of our economy improves, and the quality of life all over the world will be enhanced in dramatic ways. In addition, the millions spend in helping the mentally ill will be reduced because international studies have also indicated that the subjective well-being of a person is not only genetically derived but is also influenced by environmental factors in many ways. SO please be Kind-it has numerous potential.

 Interesting Innovative facts-

Interesting Facts- Albert Einstein –professors did not recommend or encourage him to continue his studies.

Thomas Edison- Teachers use to be annoyed by him, and did not think highly of him. Why?  He asked too many questions.

Important note-it did not matter what anyone else thought of them, what mattered is how they viewed and felt about themselves. After all belief from within motivates action and as many saints said throughout history what matters most is what you think and believe; not what others tell you.

                                                           Biography

( Please note – this is a mini summary of important facts and events in Walt Disney Life –in addition a psychological perspective is included based on personality psychology research –and social psychology research-to Find out more detailed information please visit the- Walt Disney World Official Web Site.

Walt Disney – Was a visionary man however as a child his teachers often believed that he had problems since he drew pictures of flowers and animals that could talk. In addition, some of his family members tried to persuade him to give up his artistic talents and dreams. However, Walt Disney was a visionary man full of leadership characteristics, as a result he was fearless and followed his own path and eventually his visions turned into a living reality.

Walt dreamed of creating what some considered impossible. Luckily, Walt believed in himself and he ignored the criticism of his teachers, his family members, his friends, and the investors who sometimes doubted him. When he was faced with obstacles, Walt continued to persist confidently in the directions of his dreams and eventually he turned several of his unique dreams into a living reality.

It has been said throughout history that dreamers are often ahead of their time, as a result criticism and obstacles often come their way. However, in times of adversity many people quit, but leaders have the incredible ability to be unafraid of change, and to persist while still remaining joyful until their visions become realities. –

What If -

If Walt listened to the pessimistic advice of others, his ideas may have never turned into magical creations. Throughout you life you will meet people who will try to stifle your dreams, or negate you intentions by putting you down, and belittling you. Recognize, that this is not healthy and history proves that many great men were considered crazy before they succeeded. Walt, truly believed in himself, and that belief enabled him to find ways to produce movies, cartoons, animated films, and to raise enough money to create a magical theme park that benefited children and parents. If Walt gave up and listened to others, millions of peoples and the economy would have never benefited from his wild imagination. Now let’s, take a closer look at his life.

Growing Up -

Walt was born in Chicago , Illinois . He left school at the age of 16, but later studied briefly at art schools in Chicago and in Kansas City , Missouri . While he was growing up in school, he often daydreamed and drew environmental pictures such as flowers, trees, and animals. In these pictures, his creativity emerged as he made his environment come alive with talking flowers, animals, and trees.

Examples of people trying to stop a dreamer-

As stated above, some of Walt’s teachers thought he had problems; and some of his family members at times tried to persuade him from pursing his artistic dreams.  However, Walt was ahead of his time he did not listen to the advice of others. This man followed his own path and with faith eventually what once seemed impossible by many became a reality by the faith this man had in his unique dreams.

As the Bible stated the power of Belief can move mountains, and the biology of belief has also determined that our thoughts can in fact dramatically enhance or destroy our health. Luckily Walt Believed and succeeded beyond what anyone could ever imagine.

When Walt Disney tried to raise money for Fantasia,  many investors thought that he was crazy to produce a full feature film without speech, and sure enough Disney did not give in to their advice. He persisted, he followed his own heart with enthusiasm and sure enough investors finally gave in and the film was produced with no speech.  At first this film was not popular, but sure enough it eventually became a tremendous success. Why? As history indicates Dreamers are often ahead of their time; it takes some time for people to catch up-that is why they often encounter resistance.

People often feel very uncomfortable around dreamers, as a result some people try to crush people’s dreams, by trying to prevent people from living the life that they desire to live. As a result, anger, resentment, regret, and other negative feeling can become more prevalent in our lives especially if we listen to others more so than ourselves. ( Research in molecular biology is also proving this)

Please never stop dreaming, and don’t let other people influence you into traditional thinking. Think out side of the box, and dream without limits as Walt Disney has said.

Success

Eventually by the 1950s and 1960s Walt Disney Productions, Ltd. Was one of the major producers of films for theaters and television. As the scope of his enterprises expanded, Disney retained as much artistic control as possible. The company was involved in the publication of books for children and comic strips that included the characters such as Donald duck and Pluto.

In 1955, Walt visited numerous theme parks and became very discouraged with the appearance, service, and quality of attractions that currently existed at theme parks in America. As a result, he was a leader because he did something to fix the problems. Leaders take action and that is what Walt Did he began to dream without limits and sure enough he envisioned the amusement park of the future and created it too.

Disney wanted to create parks that would have a family feel, parks that would always be clean, and a place with happy looking cast members and co-workers would exist.  He envisioned a happy and  peaceful world so he built a small- scaled version of this magical place and named it Disney Land.

Imagine everyone had the Disney Spirit all of the Time?

Obstacles-

OF course Walt Disney and his team experienced some obstacles and challenges before the park finally opened. Luckily, Walt Disney had a healthy personality, his psychology was often fearless, and he had tremendous ego strength because he did not quit when obstacles came his way. He continued to persist so that his vision would eventually become a success as it surly did.

Walt continued to dream, regardless of what other people said and as he did his imagination expanded. His passion came from his heart because he wanted to create this magical fun place for families and children. Walt was a thoughtful man, and perhaps it was this burning passion to serve others that gave him the health and energy to pursue his dreams that were once considered impossible by many.

Creative service Personality-

Disney was a man who had exceptional creative service attributes in his personality. Limits to dreams did not exist in him. He knew what people wanted, he worked with others and he turned regular ideas into magical ones- by working with a diversity of people in the community. Sure enough, success eventually became evident.

Creating magic was so important to this man because he loved to see people happy;  he loved to see people smile, and he was willing to create amazing things so that all families would only recall magical happy memories while they visited his them park.  Disney philosophy can be summed up in the following sentence. - If people look sad, your going to make guest feel sad. In addition,  when your sad-your not enjoying life, and the greatest gift you have is life so appreciate what you have and don't waist too much time or  energy being sad. In Summary, he used his creativity imagination to serve others and exceptional service was very important to him.

 Persistence Service

One park was not enough to satisfy his creative urge. As a result Walt, envisioned Disney World - a new park in the early 1960’s that opened in Orlando, Florida . Even thought Walt Disney died before his new park opened, his energy /enthusiasm impacted the lives of others and as a result people did not quit on this man they continued to create his dreams.  Can you believe this, even in the hospital before his death he was drawing and creating new ideas that he wanted to implement in his new park. This fact truly touched my heart.  This was a man that was so truly dedicated to serving others, the community, and society at large as a result his spirit still lives in the parks that exist around the world.

Problem Solver -

He found problems in the world, and with his unique talents  he did not sit back and relax by doing nothing. He took action not by pursuing his own self-interests,  instead he was thoughtful, altruistic, kind, caring, and concerned about the welfare of others.  As a result he worked hard, and had fun too while he created products and services that would benefit humanity in a diversity of ways.

It seems to me that whenever someone does something good or attempts to - a critic often appears. History has proven this also. It's a shame-perhaps this will end in the future.

Walt Disney was often criticized for working his employees to hard, and too much. However, people who judged Walt Disney this way often did not understand his life philosophy. Walt believed in hard work, and sometime difficult working condition.

Why, because he realized in America everyone is lucky. After all we have food to eat, clothing to wear, stores to go and a houses available to purchase. As a result no work was ever too hard or too much, because we in America are all so lucky especially since over two billion people in the world live in poverty stricken conditions.

As a result, he did not always have empathy for hard workers who chose to complain, he expected hard work, and unless you’re an egocentric, self-centered person you will be willing to work hard to serve others. Of course, Walt was a kind and understanding man also, and he rewarded people for their hard work when he felt that it was justly earned.

Psychological Insights into Walt Disney’s Self-Actualized Personality

The famous psychologist named Abraham Maslow studies the lives of highly functioning people, and conducted a variety of studies and concluded that -people who live at the highest level of functioning are called- Self-Actualized.

( The following is Based on Psychological studies in personality research, social psychology research and various other studies in the areas of human functioning)

These people must be what they can be.

They find beauty everywhere, they accept others including themselves, in addition to being very    spontaneous.

These people focus on problem rather than self, and they feel a strong desire to serve humanity.

They are characterized by feeling on purpose with a mission to pursue.

Their perception and attitude allows them to have a continued freshness of appreciation about life.

These people have a high need for privacy, and they often experience life as moments of ecstasy, wonder, joy, and awe, especially when this privacy need is met.

Their curiosity is not easily satisfied as a result life is enjoyed and filled with interesting peak experiences that adds dimension, excitement, and never ending curiosity and joy in life.

Fear does not bound them, it makes them boundless-they enter the state of transcendence, and time, fear, society created boundaries, and social stigmas no longer define them/ or exist in them.

The joy of being in touch with their feeling –define them and self-actualization is the term that some psychologists use to define these unique and rare individuals.

Those who are self-actualized define themselves, by living authentically in touch with their feeling, rather than living from the –they self perspective”. When we live from the “they self perspectives”-we are often following the advice of others, and the social norms that are expected. As a result, we sometime become estranged from our feeling self. This often causes an empty vacuum in life when we live from the inauthentic self, causing  life to become meaningless.  Human development is an ongoing process of developmental change, without change growth cannot exist.

The body is a reflection of nature, it’s expected to change and being in touch with you felling allows the proper changes to take place.  Rationality is practicality, though practicality may keep you alive, it may not keep you in love with life. Without feeling love, one is not operating or living in an optimally psychobiological state, as a result-the live lived is not fully realized. In addition, one's  true potential is not actualized, Why? If we are not giving or doing things that we love and if we are not receiving love-the personal self that we are –is not fully alive.  The feeling of love is associated with specific neurotransmitters, hormones, and biochemical’s reactions, as a result if the feeling of love is not radiating from within, or received from others –the self is not living or functioning to his/her fullest potential.

Self Actualized people- not only fall in love with others they are LOVE-because they are doing what they love, and loving what they do -rather than choosing not to.  Sure in life we can't always do what we love-but we can find things to love such as people, worthy causes, nature, hobbies, ect. No limit exist to how much we can love- only sadness stops up and zaps the energy out of us causing a shorting of psychological life and physiological life. Self Actualized people desire to bring the energy of love everywhere.

These are only a few traits of self-actualized people, and in my educated opinion Walt Disney was one of these few people who actually reached the state of being- in which one is truly self-actualized.

Research, indicates that only 1-10 percent of the population reaches this state of -living existence and Walt Disney, based on his biographic research has in my opinion reached this state of existence.  To form your own opinion research -personality psychology research of Carl Rogers –fully functioning persons, and Abraham Maslow, Self-Actualizers characteristics.

Why Walt Disney Was Self - Actualized- ( In my research based opinion)

Walt Disney was self-actualized because he had the characteristics, he was creative, and he found beauty in many places, where some people just can’t find it.  In addition he followed his creative instincts and created beauty in the world in not just one way, but in many ways.

He followed his feeling, and created, cartoons, wrote books, built /designed theme parks, and became a leader of a big company that made several documentary films, including The Living Desert (1953) and Secrets of Life (1956). The company made live-action films too such as Treasure Island (1950), Robin Hood (1951), The Shaggy Dog (1959), The Absent-Minded Professor (1961), and Mary Poppins (1964). I

IN addition, WDW produced Animated features films included Peter Pan (1953) and The Sword in the Stone (1963). Disney’s company was also responsible for the television series “Davy Crockett, The Mickey Mouse Club,” and “Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color.” In addition, Walt gave money to charities, he dedicated himself to community service, and he helped people in many ways and throughout his life, as a filmmaker Disney received 26 Academy Awards.

As we can see, his feelings were spontaneous -he did many different and unique things, he served the public, he focused on meaningful objectives, and as a result he became the dreams he envisioned.

Beliefs -

Walt Disney believed in respecting, appreciation, and valuing the diversity of everyone.  No two people are exactly the same, so to compare one person to another is often insulting and negating to ones individuality.  In addition, comparison may lead to unhappiness in the excessively opinionated mindset that is full of judgment rather than love. We are all unique, special, and important people so what Walt did, or did not do, does not matter all that matters is that he found what he found- his calling and he followed that calling with absolute faith.

To say that Mr. Disney is better that you or your brother, or father, or that you life was not as good - is foolish. That is like saying the oak tree is better than the pine tree, we all need each other in society, we all contribute in equally beneficial ways, and we all need to come together in peaceful ways. This is only possible with social support, mutual respect, and constant encouragement to help and assist others to find their unique dreams, and then to work together as friends to help each other to accomplish their  visions.

Unity-Harmony-Creativity-Relationships –Disney dream

When we work together, Amazing things happen, and perhaps nothing is impossible when we combine all of our unique talent and skills.  Inspire, believe, and unite together to create our desires-these are the ideas that my psychological and business researchers- recommends and this is what Walt Disney perhaps would have wanted for us all.

Conflict- takes away the magic

Conflict, and resistance to uniting together to create win-win friendships, and healthy inspirational working relationships only exists if we have interpersonal conflict within the self or between others exists.   The free self – personality- is understanding and open to everyone, and its attached no-where. Which means one can’t be upset if things don’t go the way ego wants them too, the free self personality is filled with love, as a result the natural reaction towards everyone is that of altruism and all selfless service attributes. This personality gets along with the diversity of everyone and can’t wait to work with others to assist, inspire, illuminate, and mutually encourage the hearts and minds of all. Yes, the leader emerges when injustice occurs, but the true free self-personality only desire peace for everyone.

People, who can’t get along with others sometimes, have a closed mind, a narrow perception, a closed heart, and overly judgmental electro-negative-bio-cognitions. The healthy personality gets along with everyone, but often this personality is resented by others when it should not be.  Resentment and conflict  is a result of jealousy inside of some people, interpersonal conflict, and ego competition. However, a perception that is focused on heart centered cooperation and citizen appreciation can’t conflict.  Don't You hate or compare yourself with those you appreciate. A closed heart, and an egocentric mind prevents mutual appreciate between all citizens as a result conflict arises. If

If  Love and appreciation was felt between all citizens, all the time, with unconditional understanding would conflict exist as much?
